Hand made by British seamstresses and knitters, Ira & Isla clothing is born, bred and brought to their customers from within the UK. A rare concept today, the luxury brand sets itself apart with its passion for creating timeless childrenswear from where it was founded, the Cotswolds. Quintessentially British in design, Ira and Isla Baby & Kids is reviving true craftsmanship and heirloom dressing…and the brand is just getting started.

Founded by Jasleen Kaur, Ira and Isla is inspired by vintage silhouettes and intricate detailing whilst remaining practical and long-lasting. Each garment is proudly designed and made in Great Britain using traditional production methods, an ethos integral to the brand. French binding, lace trimmings and delicate smocking is seen throughout the garments, reflecting the skill and care of the seamstresses who make them.

Started after the birth of her first child Ira, Jasleen has always had a passion for creating beautiful clothes having studied Textile Design at the London College of Fashion.

“My passion for childrenswear and the sheer beauty of rare vintage clothing has come to be my trade.” she says, “I have always admired the charm, innocence and timeless elegance found in traditional children’s clothing, and I wanted to recreate that feeling through Ira & Isla Baby and Kids.”

Charm, innocence and timeless elegance is portrayed perfectly in each of the Ira and Isla dresses and accessories. Collections are carefully, slowly, and sustainably made by hand in Britain and manufactured in limited quantities. The brand prides itself on standing apart in an industry dominated by mass- production and out-sourcing.

Whilst definitely on the pricier side (dresses range from £244 – £328), every item is made from the highest quality materials with Jasleen adding “I admire the level of long-lasting quality, strength and durability in our items. Our products are notably worth it and certainly made to last. Many of our garments are designed to be treasured, passed down and worn again through generations”.

Jasleen Kaur, Founder of Ira and Isla

Due to the nature of design and manufacturing, Ira & Isla Baby and Kids works to limited quantities. However, the brand hopes to grow in the coming months and years.

“I hope to open a boutique in the heart of the Cotswolds.” Says Jasleen “I want to keep manufacturing Ira & Isla Baby and Kids garments right here in England in order to maintain a high level of quality in our products, as well as to guarantee an ethical production process. We feel the Cotswolds is a fitting home for Ira & Isla Baby and Kids, reflecting the timeless beauty and heritage that inspires the brand.

I love working with creative people and creativity is everything to me. I love to surround myself around people who are all about encouraging and making creativity happen. I believe it should feel natural, joyful and inspiring, and I hope that feeling is reflected throughout every Ira & Isla Baby and Kids collection”.
