I’m on a mission to prove that dressing a baby boy doesn’t need to be boring. It can be fun, versatile and surprising. And definitely does not need to fit into a box. I will dress my son like a Von Trapp child on Tuesday and a skater boy on Wednesday. Because the funner his outfits are, the less anyone will notice I’ve been wearing the same milk stained tracksuit for three days in a row.
So if you’re a mum lusting after bows and frills, read this article to fall in love with dressing your boy (for a few years at least before you lose him to football tops and character t-shirts).
Monday
Starting the week in dungarees from Lamb London, my favourite 90s inspired vintage clothing brand. Full of fun hand made knits and a great selection of Oshkosh dungarees in different sizes. Pair this with a simple white t-shirt and red socks as a cute look… and an unofficial ode to our England World Cup team.
Tuesday
Today’s outfit is something uber casual for a day that is always reserved for a baby class and mum friends (who will also be covered in food stains with unwashed hair) so if I can get him a whole outfit for just over £10 it’s a massive win from me and these H&M tracksuits wash really really well.
Wednesday
Before I had a baby I used to buy Newbie clothes as gifts, and now I have one, I buy them for my son because the quality is just THAT good. With interesting clothes, good quality fabric and different colours, you can say goodbye to boring boys outfits. I absolutely love this olive set with blueberries on them.
Thursday
I am a massive fan of a jumpsuit. I’m also a massive fan of anything Baby Mori. This one is brilliant, it’s super soft and has poppers on the bottom for easy access for nappy changes (any girl who’s had to strip naked in a WC while wearing a playsuit will wish they had this feature for adults).
Friday
This is where Sebastian’s wardrobe starts to get a little more expensive. On a Friday I’m starting to see pre-baby friends, the ones that WFH on a Friday but wouldn’t dream of actually working in the afternoon. I’m going upmarket and French for the next three days so say bonjour to Jacadi and au revoir to supermarket shopping.
Jacadi is by far one of my favourite brands for Seb. The softest jumpers (which actually survive the washing machine unlike most high end brand knits) and trousers that are both stylish and practical.
I love this outfit, it feels sophisticated but still sweet and yes, I will be putting my husband in the exact same dark denim wash jeans.
Saturday
It’s the weekend and just because I can no longer spend my Saturdays having a long lazy brunch in Notting Hill, it does not mean my baby won’t dress the part. The weekends are usually reserved for friends that don’t have babies and can’t come and see me at 11am on a Tuesday because they have corporate jobs, can go to the loo whenever they want to and don’t live their lives according to nap cycles. La Coqueta is a go to for gorgeous outfits. Their trousers feature their trademark drop crotch and this outfit in particular is unisex enough to be saved for your next baby, whatever the gender is.
Sunday
And finally, because it’s Sunday. I can’t resist a little bit of boujee with this Burberry set. This one was a very gratefully received hand me down from my sister which supports my best financial motto which is “have children after your sister”. Although if you can’t stomach the three figure price tag, and to be honest I can’t either, you can buy so many gorgeous designer (and non designer!) baby clothes on Vinted. Happy shopping!
